This Saturday, we will undertake a pilgrimage to Okhla Landfill in order to understand what is the ultimate fate of the stuff that we discard. The intention is to experience the massive dump which we contribute to daily, see what it does to us and tell it's story, of people, of stuff and of the system.
This is one of our events to celebrate a Plastic Free July. With the incessantly increasing piles of waste(mostly plastic), this campaign has gained a lot of relevance. To reduce our plastic consumption we need to understand, where the plastic we consume ultimately lands up and stays for centuries to come. Visiting a landfill is aimed at understanding our consumption and disposal patterns and what we can possibly do to reduce it.
The campaign of Plastic Free July and visit to Landfill is also a precursor to our immersive journey Earth-Shastra where we explore the intersection of ecology and economics, seeking to deepen the relationship between the two.
